Play Therapy

Supporting Children’s Mental Health, Growth, and Well-Being

At The NEST, we understand that childhood can come with a range of emotional, behavioural, and developmental challenges. Our child therapy services are designed to provide a nurturing and supportive environment, empowering engagement with their emotions giving them the space, at their pace, to express themselves, build coping skills, and thrive.

Who?

Play therapy sessions are for those aged 4-16.

Play encourages emotional expression through: art, clay and playdough, movement, puppets, masks, drama, games, storytelling, role play, sand and toys.

Why play?

Creative and play therapy enables children and young people to process and explore their thoughts, feelings and worries, at their own pace, through their universal language – play!

Play gives a space to explore empathy, social situations and problem solving. Play naturally allows expression for how they experience the world. These can be  big feelings /anxieties, trying out new behaviours/energy, regulation and resilience or sharing (maybe even rewriting) difficult stories.

How we work

Sessions are child-led, fostering a safe and permission-giving environment to explore whatever they need.

This is a powerful process where children can find their voice, express themselves, build confidence, and better understand the world around them.

Through play we explore strengths, anxieties, views on themselves and others, responses to behaviour or whatever they need/bring into the room.
